Backpack Vacuums

Introduction to Backpack Vacuum Cleaners

As the name suggests, backpack vacuums are units carried on the operator's back using a comfortable system of straps and padding similar to those found in travelling backpacks. They offer an immensely portable experience that removes the need to direct the suction unit and leaves the hands free to control the nozzle, rearrange furniture items, etc.

Benefits of Using a Portable Vacuum Cleaner

Due to their unique construction and properties, using a vacuum backpack has several distinct benefits and advantages over traditional floor-based models, including:

   Weight

Designed to be as lightweight and comfortable as possible for the user, backpack vacuums are generally lighter than other options. Whilst the weight of the unit is carried on the user's back, this is often easier than manoeuvering other types of vacuum around.

   Manoeuvrability

Back-pack vacuums allow the user to move easily between obstacles whilst cleaning.  Around desks and chairs, in commercial, education and hospitality locations all over the planet, the convenience of the back-pack vac has been proven over decades. They allow the user to clean almost anywhere they can get to including stairways

  Flexibility and versatility

With the addition of accessories such as tools for crevices and brushes that agitate the carpet, a backpack vacuum cleaner can access areas standard units cannot reach and is well-equipped to handle even the most robust cleaning challenges.

    Speed

A backpack vacuum allows speedy cleaning of commercial areas with a minimum of interruption to the space.

Backpack Vacuum Cleaner Maintenance

Maintaining your portable vacuum cleaner  helps ensure consistent performance and a long service life. Some basic steps to take include:

  • Check tools and hoses for blockages.
  • Empty bag and replace as required.
  • Periodically check filter to ensure ongoing motor protection.  Replace HEPA filter if fitted.
  • For corded models, when winding cable, always pull plug from wall before winding cable from the machine end.  This will wind out twists and kinks and prolong cable life.
  • For battery units, always recharge batteries after use to ensure maximum run-time next time needed, and prolong battery life.

FAQS

What are the advantages of using a commercial backpack vacuum cleaner?

The versatility of backpack vacuums makes them perfect for public institutions, traditional retail environments, healthcare settings, municipal locations, educational facilities, and more. Many of our clients opt for industrial sweeper and scrubber rentals to complement backpack vacuum cleaners, and the Hako Group caters to them all.

Where are Hako back-pack vacuums made?

Our back-pack vacuums are made in Australia as they have been for over thirty years.

What is the difference between a bypass and a flow-through motor?

A flow through motor uses the vacuum suction air to cool the motor during use.  A bypass motor is cooled by drawing fresh air in, rather than the same air that has been used for vacuum pick-up.  Main advantage is if there is a filter breakage, the bypass motor will not suck dust through itself.
